Customer: Klausner Lumber – Live Oak, FL
Application: Dust collector screw conveyor for saw dust
Equipment: 12in dia x 20ft long screw conveyor x 30deg incline
Customer Challenge: Klausner Lumber contacted SCP with the need to conveyor saw dust from a dust collector rotary airlock to a storage container. They wanted the screw conveyor to be inclined and extend out far enough to clear the dust collector legs. Ease of maintenance and long term reliability were very important to them.
SCP Solution: The SCP sales engineers were able to design a screw conveyor to both handle the required application and ensure a long and reliable life. Using a 1-piece screw with no hanger bearings meant there would never be a need to replace a friction bearing in the housing. In addition, the SCP sales engineers designed the screw to run at a relatively low speed to reduce wear on the bearings, drive and screw flighting. A tubular housing was used to increase efficiency and reduce overall power consumption. These design features made this screw conveyor not only tough, but environmentally friendly too.
Special Features:
- 1-piece screw
- No hanger bearing
- Low speed
- Low maintenance
- Low power consumption
- Tubular housing
- Custom inlet
