Heavy Duty Frame
Each frame is CNC cut and formed out of 3/16″ or 1/4″ thk. steel. The frames are then welded together in a jig using pulse MIG welding to ensure full penetration and strength of each weld. The heavy duty frame and precision welding mean the frame stays square and flat ensuring smooth operation of the slide plate.
Slide Plate
The slide plate is evaluated using a proprietary SCP calculator with factors such as bulk material density, head load, and plate thickness to ensure deflection and stress are within the acceptable criteria, thus allowing smooth operation. Each slide plate is CNC cut with radiused corners to ensure a precise fit and eliminate binding.
Bronze Rollers
Each slide plate rolls on bronze bushed rollers to ensure smooth travel of the slide plate. These rollers need no lubrication so bulk material contamination from lubricants is not a worry. The rollers are specifically spaced to ensure the slide plate is properly supported and that bulk material does not build up and cause a bind.
UHMW Seals
The upper UHMW plate seals are ½” thk and held in with recessed bolting to the frame. These seals are rugged and reliable at sealing bulk materials from 0.1″ to 2.0″.
Actuator (Manual)
A rack and pinion gear system with a hand wheel is used to move the slide plate. The rack and pinion uses ball bearings to support the shaft and pinion ensuring smooth operation. The rack is mounted under the slide plate to keep it out of the material flow and eliminate the need to interrupt the upper UHMW plate seal.
Actuator (Pneumatic)
The standard aluminum body, chrome rod pneumatic cylinder is sized using SCP proprietary calculator and considers the bulk material weight, opening size and head height to ensure the slide plate’s smooth travel, even under the most demanding applications. The cylinder can be outfitted with limit switches for open and close position detection.
